There are many types of deocrating styles. Some are:
Shabby chic- is a mixture of textures and furniture. Became popular in late 1980’s thanks to flea market finds. It is also a cottage revival syle.
BOHO – is bohemian inspired thanks to the hippies out there who popularized this in the late 60’s, This is an anything goes mentality.
Farmhouse – is the most popular, It came to be in 201o. It was most popular on zillow as to how to sell your house quickly. It is a country cottage feel.
Modern – can be interchangeale with contemporary. They are not same. Modern refers to clean lines and minimalism. Became popular in early 20th century. It was influenced by “picasso”, and made popular by its earth tone colors.
Midcentury Modern – MCM became popular in the 50’s and 60’s and was fueled by a ‘Design Revolution’ in the suburbs.
Southwestern – was fuelded by the “Pueblo”Indians featuring dark blue/white and reds/yellows to name a few. It has rustic wood beams as a feature.
